Continuing Education Programmes

The CAS, MAS, and EMBA programmes of the Department MTEC aim to enhance professional skills and give greater depth and interdisciplinary breadth to an original academic qualification.

The MAS programme corresponds to at least 60 ECTS credit points (CP), includes a Master’s thesis and generally lasts two years on a part-time basis. The CAS programmes correspond to at least 10 CP and 120 contact hours and involve a written project thesis. They are organised in the form of block courses or courses on fixed days and last up to one semester on a part-time basis. The EMBA programme correspondes to 75 CP and 18 months sequential part-​time learning.

The goal of the MAS ETH MTEC programme is to equip prospective technology managers with the knowledge and competencies required to develop and implement systematic solutions for complex professional challenges.

The programme targets working professionals with at least two years of work experience. An individual choice of subjects allows students to tailor the programme to their needs and interests.

The CAS ELTV programme develops expertise in entrepreneurial strategy while building the leadership skills required to found, grow, and lead science-driven and technology-based ventures.

The programme targets early-career professionals in technology businesses who aim to sharpen their entrepreneurial thinking and skills. Participants will be actively developing technology-based business opportunities and/or setting up technology ventures during the course.

The Swiss School of Public Governance (SSPG) offers executive education programmes in public governance and management. It seeks to enhance critical public administration capabilities by teaching relevant practical and theoretical skills for public officials and others working on issues of governance. It leverages the strengths of multiple ETH departments and centres, along with ETH’s global leadership in the study of technology, behavioural economics, innovation, management, negotiation engineering and security studies. 

The SSPG offers two CAS programmes:

  • CAS in Public Governance and Administration (CAS PGA), which emphasises modern public administration and the use of new technologies
  • CAS in International Policy and Advocacy (CAS IPA), which emphasises public administration within competitive international environments

The Executive MBA programme emba X is co-​designed and jointly run by the Department MTEC of ETH Zurich and the University of St. Gallen.

The goal of the emba X programme is to develop socially responsible leaders who have the mindset, the knowledge, and the skills to integrate leadership and technology issues with the aim of having a significant positive impact on the team, organization, and the society at large.

The programme targets working professionals with at least ten years of work experience and five years of leadership experience.  

The Certificate of Advanced Studies ETH in Digital Health provides healthcare executives with the tools necessary to understand the role of digital health interventions in the prevention and management of chronic conditions.

The programme targets medical doctors, individuals from the pharmaceutical, healthcare, and health and life insurance industries, medtech companies, digital health companies, employees working in corporate health, the public sector, and patient organisations.
